Keacy Carty propels U19 WI Cricket team to win

ICC Under19 Cricket World Cup | Bangladesh 2016

Keacy Carty, 18 year old , contributed his success in the U19 West Indies Cricket Team match against India to hard work and discipline. Although born in St Maarten, Keacy’s father, who also played the role of coach for some time, is a well known Anguillian musician who performs under the name of Repeater.

It was the first major title for the West Indies at any level since Darren Sammy’s senior team…

Carty has played for Anguilla, Leeward Islands Under-19s and has now lead the West Indies Under-19s team to victory, as Man of the Final, at the 2016 ICC Under19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh against India.

History of the West Indian Under-19 cricket team: Playing since 1974. Future international players to have represented the team include Brian Lara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Courtney Walsh.

West Indies slipped to 77 for five in reply against the steady India attack before Keacy Carty (52 not out) and Paul (40 not out) put on 69 for the unfinished sixth wicket to steer their team home with three deliveries to spare.

It was the first major title for the West Indies at any level since Darren Sammy’s senior team won the ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka in 2012.
