Filled with limitless talent and possibilities: Miss Scotiabank Talented Teen 2018

2018 Anguilla Summer Festival Recap Series

Through articulate proclamations of personal qualities and aspirations; presentations of astounding talents; displays of regal gowns and showcases of intellect, the four contestants, who vied for the title of “Miss Scotia Bank Talented Teen” on August 5th, 2018, certainly embodied the theme “expressions of culture”.

The four girls named Charisma Jones-Chin, Riana Richardson, Severine Pradel and K’diyah Dubique began the spectacular night in the fanfare accompanied by From Within Dance Company.

The next segment served to highlight the admirable qualities all four girls possess, their extra-curricular activities as well as their goals for a promising future. In our midst stood: a future prolific sports coach; historian; singer/songwriter and music producers as well as a vocalist/animator.

There is no doubt that these four girls will make their mark in Anguilla as the passion and determination that flowed through their voices in their speeches profoundly resonate their capabilities. Miss Charisma Jones-Chin won this segment as she spoke fluently, confidently and with astounding conviction.

One word cannot describe how spectacular, amazing, superb, impressive and outstanding the talents of the four girls at Miss Scotia Bank Talented Teen 2018 were. The audience was treated to following renditions for the Talent segment:

Ms. Severine Pradel delivered a heartfelt tribute, in song, to Anguillian warriors suffering with the chronic disease, Lupus.

Ms. Riana Richardson also captivated the audience by singing “Rise” by Katy Perry while dedicating her performance to anyone who may feel broken down because of hate and negativity.

Ms. K’diyah Dubique lifted the audience’s spirits through her humorous play concerning the struggles between teachers and students.

And Ms. Charisma Jones-Chin wowed the audience by singing “Never Enough” by Lorren Allred.

All contestants did an amazing job but Miss Charisma Jones-Chin’s powerhouse voice afforded her the ‘Best Talent’ prize.

Looking like attendees to the Met Gala, the four contestants wore their grand, glittery and gorgeous gowns and flowed effortlessly across the stage while showing them off.

Miss Riana Richardson graced the stage with confidence wearing a stunning royal blue dress with a criss-cross gold pattern and feathered royal blue appliques. No wonder as to why she won best evening wear presentation.

We can all agree that the interview segment is no easy task. It involves a lot of pressure and as such, all four contestants should be applauded for answering their questions so articulately! The four contestants displayed profound knowledge concerning their hobbies, interests and career goals.

There were four amazing girls on the stage that night, no doubt about it. However, only one could have been crowned and Miss Charisma Jones-Chin’s eloquent speech; beyond extraordinary talent; beautiful evening wear dress and confident response in the interview segment allowed her to win three out of four segments and the prestigious title of “Miss Scotiabank Talented Teen 2018”.

This year’s Miss Scotiabank Talented Teen was definitely one of a high calibre. Every contestant came out and showed out! The girls undoubtedly gave a remarkable performance while expressing themselves and Anguilla’s culture.
