New Years Anguilla 2017

New Years in Anguilla, like most of the world, has always been traditionalised and globally observed as a celebratory time of year; one where we have the opportunity to start anew and accomplish even more than the previous year(s).

It marks the first celebration of a new year, a time to be in the company of loved ones and is definitely an extravagant time of year.

On New Year’s Eve or what we call “Old Year’s Night”, many patrol the streets, party-hopping and finding the best spots to view firework displays (which are listed below).

While others prefer to remian indoors enjoying family time in the comforts of their own homes, at church or at beach-nics that were held from evening till the striking of the clock at midnight.

Celebrating the end of a rough 2017

After our rapid come back from the devastation faced in early September 2017 with Hurricane Irma, there is definitely no doubt that we deserve this celebration, especially to emphasise our gratitude for the gift of life alone.

We were able to enjoy our favourite jollification of the year, Christmas, and party-hearty at Boxing Day Bash 5; and even though 2017 “lasted 5 seconds”, it is time to bring in 2018. Here’s a quick look at 2017…

Where to go for New Years Eve in Anguilla?

Now, allow me to counteract the frequently posed question, “Where it got to go on New Years in AXA?” This year, things are a little different.

There aren’t any hotel celebrations as they are currently closed as a result of Hurricane Irma. However, you can still get a drink, chill with friends, dance to music and watch the fireworks.

This year, multiple party hosts from East to West have made it possible for us to bring in the New Year in style. You won’t want to miss it.

When the clock strikes 12 in Anguilla

When the clock strikes twelve, there will be a celebration at every square mile of the island. What heels? What sleep? Who’s driving? No time for questions, just “get yah wuk up on!”

Parties will go till 5am and, even then, the party won’t stop for some persons.

New Years Eve is always followed by family cook-ups, hangovers, sleep or better yet, all.

Last year, we hoped that your 2017 was more fulfilling than that of the previous despite all the adversity and L’s received.

Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.”

Now, when given a clean slate, I wish your 2018 brings more joy than sorrow, more come backs than setbacks, more compassion than indifference and most importantly more appreciation than disparagement.

As we walk into another 12 months of our lives, let’s make every moment count!
