Anguilla Rock Salt Souvenir
Anguilla was once a major exporter of Salt in the Caribbean region. This Anguilla Rock Salt souvenir in mini “Crocus” bags – as were formally used for transporting the salt throughout the Caribbean – has a deep Caribbean history.
Anguilla was once a major exporter of Salt in the Caribbean region. This salt made its way as far as Venezuela but, was most notably supplied for the processing of crude oil in Trinidad. During its heyday, Anguilla exported over 40,000 barrels of rock salt each weighing 300 lbs, harvested only 4 months out of the year from the Sandy Ground Pond. Today, Anguilla is no longer an exporting country, however, the pond continues to produce these diamond-like salt crystals – the perfect Anguilla souvenir!
